I've been a redhead for a very long time. Obviously I am not a natural redhead, despite my freakish paleness and freckles. My natural hair colour is a dark brown. I think. I haven't really seen it since I was 14, so who knows; it could be any colour by now.
But being a redhead became super important to me. I didn't just have red hair--I was a redhead. Fuck. Yeah.
So, what did I do on Friday when I got my hair done?
I dyed it brown. No, really.
See. It's brown. I wasn't fooling. I'm no fooler! Well, 99% of the time, I totes am. This time I was telling the truth, though. So there.
This magical, life-altering transformation was brought to you by the almost-too-talented-for-her-own-good owner and stylist of The Proudest Pony Hair and Co.: Ashley Brewer. Miss Ashley has been cutting and colouring my hair for over five years now and I absolutely adore her. I'd go into her salon blindfolded and let her do whatever she wanted: I trust her awesome hair skills that much.
She recently opened up her brand spankin' new salon on College near Lansdowne. It has the coolest freakin' name I've ever heard of and there are otters and roosters on the wall and horse trinkets everywhere. Obviously you want to get your hair done at a place that has an otter painting on the wall. Obviously.
But enough of trinkets, let's view the amazing transformation of Redhead Siân to Brunette Siân. "And I promise I'll stop talking about myself in the third person", she typed. I promise I'll stop doing that too.
It was quite the process. I had the red striped out of the ends, then there was some brown added in various stages to create a super fad gradient and more highlights to the ends. And there was a lot of toning. So much toning.
See, I didn't just want normal brown hair. I wanted OMBRE hair. Yes, ombre. It is a real thing. I Googled it, so it must be. It really just means dark roots and light ends. So what really happened was some celebrity was too lazy to get her roots touched up and convinced everyone it was cool and on purpose by giving it a snazzy French name. Ombre.
Ashley was an absolute hair genius with this process. It took almost four hours, mostly because I had a lot of red to strip out, but it was worth it. The fade is so freakin' perfect. I just like to stare at it in a mirror. LOOK:
See, perfection. Dark, to light. Just follow the arrow.
If you too would like to have ombre hair, or any other kind of hair that doesn't necessarily have a trendy French name, but is still just as awesome, give Ashley a call. DO IT NOW.

I love you hair, it looks great!!
