Steve! Helping! Typing!

Guess what, bitches. I found an apartment in the city. Wait, I didn't build up to that properly. Drat.

Okay, okay. First you need to know the following:

I've been looking for a place to live since June.
I haven't been able to find anything.
The thought of living home and having a three hour daily commute to go to school made me want to vomit.
People suck. A lot.
Apartment hunting sucks. A lot.
On Friday, I was very close to bashing my head against a wall from frustration.

And then, magically, an apartment fell out of the sky yesterday. Not unlike a rain shower of Jelly Beans. Or Gummi Bears. (Just don't let Steve near them.)

I went to one final viewing and for the first time ever, I was the first person to get to the open house. I met the landlord, and he was super duper friendly. I walked in, looked around, asked to fill out an application, said, "I really, really like the place and want it." Then he said . . .

"Okay. It's yours."

Just. Like. That. It was so easy. I didn't even have to push my Staples button.

And it's truly a magnificent apartment. It's a very large bachelor on the third floor of a cute little walk up. Which means I'll get to buzz people into my building. FANCY. There's also all the other things that come with most apartments : a refrigerator, a front door, a bathroom. Also, there's a window. Swank. Hilary Swank. Swanky.

Hilary Swank would also approve of the location of my apartment. It is right on St. Clair Ave at Alberta Ave.  Now, a year ago I would have never dreamed of living on St Clair Ave, let alone anything north of Bloor St. Just like my denial of the existence of the east end of Toronto, I generally liked to believe that Toronto stopped a little after Bloor St. But very recently, I came to realize that St Clair is one of the best streets in Toronto to live on.

I have created a map to further illustrate why my apartment is optimally located to ensure happiness and high quality of life. Ahem.

The star is where I will be living. Obviously. Because I'm a star! Shazam. I have numbered all of the nearby locations according to their importance:

1. Dutch Dreams: only the best ice cream in Toronto. And I'm an ice cream fiend, so I really know my stuff. I still love me some Marble Slab and Greg's, but it's only at Dutch Dreams that you get piles of real whipped cream and fresh fruit on top of your ice cream. When Bea and James took me here a few weeks ago, I decided I needed to live within walking distance of Dutch Dreams. And now that I will be, prepare yourselves for the imminent arrival of Chubs (from eating too much ice cream) Siân.

2. Two of my very bestest friends, Bea and James live just down the street from me. Also, my cat-niece, Whoop Whoop lives with them as well. It is always good to live close to friends. Especially ones that have excellent movie collections and host 90210 marathon nights.

3. Along with ice cream, I also need to live within walking distance to a Tim Hortons. This is because I am addicted to their steeped tea. I am still trying to confirm whether or not they make it with crack.

4. Since I hear it's important to eat things other than ice cream and tea, it is a good thing that there is a No Frills supermarket just up the block. I like No Frills because they randomly have things like Dunkaroos on sale. And juice boxes. I love juice. Also next to the No Frills is my bank. I will be avoiding the bank so I don't know how much money I've spent on ice cream.

5. I case I want to go to a fancier-type grocery store, there is a giant Loblaws and a 24-hour Sobeys nearby. The 24-hour Sobeys will come in handy, in case I need to purchase cookies very late at night. I mean fruit. Or vegetables.

6. I've been told about a super awesome farmer's market on the weekends at Wychwood and St Clair. I'm hoping that living so close to one will encourage me to get up early on Saturday.

7. One of my friends took me to a super awesome bagel place in Forest Hill once. They make tasty bagels. I love awesome bagels. As in "bey-gul" not "bag-ul".
